Exceptional and rare late-Victorian, fireplace fender dating from the 1890s.

This statement piece beautifully embodies the early Arts & Crafts philosophy, marrying heavy industrial materials with fluid, organic forms. The fender is expertly constructed from a heavy black cast iron frame, intricately molded with a stylized motif of scrolling sycamore leaves and seed pods. It features beautiful, contrasting inset embellishments of elongated, oval-shaped polished copper panels across the main front rail and decorative corner returns. Condition: Wonderful antique condition. Completely solid with no cracks, structural damage, or previous repairs. The cast iron retains a deep, clean black finish, and the copper accents show a warm, natural patina typical of its age.
