Purchased directly from the artist. This large-scale sketch (the painted area measures 22" x 46" or 56cm x 117cm). The title of the sketch is "The Magic Realist" but the finished painting was titled "Promenade" and is illustrated in the Blaines Fine Art catalogue "Clive Head: Paintings 1996 to 2001" on page 21. On page 55 of the same book is a second study, this time in pencil. The title refers to the man pictured, Steve Whitehead, a contemporary realist artist who also lives in Scarborough.
