    Antique An Art Nouveau Bronze by Berlin Sculptor Paul ludwig kowalczewski Filling the Buckets C.1905

    A fine bronze sculpture by Berlin artist P Kowalczewski of a scantily dressed Art Nouveau Maiden carrying two buckets and stood on a rocky plinth, mounted on a marble stand.

     
    13 inches (33cm) Height
     
    Good quality details down to fingernails etc… good flowing form with strong presence of movement. Patination chocolate brown and dark greeny brown (all original), slight patination loss through handling on high points as expected.

    Circa 1905 - from a series of three Water Carrier Sculptures
     
    Foundry probably 'Bronze Garanti Paris Deposee'

    Kowalczewski studied from 1895 for three years at the Berlin Academy of Arts . His work included primarily bronze busts and sculptures of the Art Nouveau with profane depictions of working people, but also warriors, archers, victorious poses and occasionally birds. He exhibited his works regularly between 1899 and 1906 at the Große Berliner Kunstausstellung .
