This exuberant Victorian silver tea set consists of a matching teapot, sugar bowl and milk jug and is an original set. The early Victorian repousse work of acanthus leaves and floral motifs is repeated on each piece. They each stand on four highly decorated cast feet and are gilt lined.
The teapot has a fluted and acanthus leaved spout and handle. The handle is silver with bone insulators. The hinged top has a silver finial of a bouquet of flowers set on leaves. The milk jug has one and the sugar bowl two handles with fluted and acanthus leaved decoration. Apart from a small dent on the shoulder of the sugar bowl this set is in very good condition.
Made by the very highly regarded firm of Charles Reily and George Storer who registered their first mark in 1829 through to 1850. This is a superb example of their high quality work and would be a pleasure to place on the table.
The total weight of the set is 55 ozs, 1576 grms.
