very rare antique simulated malachite victorian stationary box, 19th century

It is a privilege to offer this exquisite 19th century Simulated Malachite stationery box.During the 19th century Malachite stone was considered of extremely high status. During this period makers started to reproduce Malachite Boxes by hand painting the exterior to replicate the natural Malachite stone.This box is a very rare Simulated Malachite surviver. Many of these boxes succumbed to fading or damage. Remarkably this box is offered in excellent condition. The exterior still retains a level of gloss , there are no obvious damages to be found to the exterior. Upon very close inspection there are some light surface marks and mild fading to the lower edge of the lid.
The exterior banding has also tarnished however still presents well and contrasts the Simulated Malachite exterior to perfection.
The interior is complete for storing stationary items, there is mild staining to the interior however considering the age of the box the interior has survived very well.IMPORTANT, there are two provided keys. Both keys work the lock however the latch is not fully aligned and therfore the box will not lock with the lid down. This will require some adjustment.This box has been part of my personal collection, I am reluctant to see it go as I cannot replace it. I hope it will bring many years of enjoyment to the future owner.Depth: 11.6cm
