    tortoiseshell tea caddy

    Bow fronted Tortoiseshell Tea Caddy with treble waisted sides and pagoda top which stands on four turned ivory feet. The exterior has two silver escutcheons and has fine silver stringing which helps enhance the shape of this wonderful tea caddy.

     
    Lifting the lid reveals two tortoiseshell lids with ivory handles surround by ivory edging. The inside of the lid is lined with a red velvet and the two compartments contain traces of the original lining.
     
    On the base of this tea caddy there is a rare makers stamp T.Tompson, Birmingham.
