Antique Sterling Silver Thomas Dones Calling Card Case

Exceptional Sterling Silver Calling Card case made by the highly regarded silversmith Thomas Dones of Birmingham in c1850.

The case has clear Hallmarks and is in very good condition.

The decoration is crisp and without wear

Rectangular shape with rounded corners and scroll leafed edge. Superbly decorated with chased flowers in a basket and flowers within large oval shield, against a fine linear engine turned background.

There is a vacant cartouche to the centre of the reverse.
