"Buchan" 1920 by Sunstar ex Hamoaze.
Print 13" H X 17" W. Held by his owner Vicount Astor - in full racing attire, accompanied by a lad holding the rugs, all on top of the Marlborough Downs!
Buchan, an ancestor of The Minstrel & Le Moss, was himself 2nd in the 2000gns & Derby of 1919, 3rd in the St,Leger, but won the Eclipse twice & Champion Stakes, he finished 1st in the Ascot Gold Cup, but was disqualified for interference!
Sir Alfred Munnings was the doyen of all 19th & 20th century equestrian artists & second only to George Stubbs among the all-time greats.
