Scottish Provincial silver bowl
A stunning silver bowl assayed in Sheffield 1902, made by James Ramsay of Dundee. A curvilinear octagon shape, the bowl could be used for bonbons, fruit, nuts or ice. It bears a clear set of hallmarks including the maker’s mark “JR” within a diamond. It also bears the inscription “Ramsay, Dundee” on the base which refers to the retail jewellery shop on High Street, Dundee. The bowl is not engraved, has no dents or repairs and is of a fine gauge of silver.
