roman oil lamp with chariot and driver

A Roman North African terracotta oil lamp with volute nozzle. The discus is decorated with a charioteer riding a ‘biga’, a light chariot, drawn by two horses. The horses are shown galloping right, whilst the charioteer’s right arm is drawn back, whipping the horses on.

Date: Circa 40-100 AD. Very Fine condition; complete and intact
