Circa 1810, a late George III mahogany and inlaid tea caddy. The rectangular shaped tea caddy with a flame mahogany carcass. At the top are multiple inlays of satinwood, boxwood and ebony. The top is hinged and opens to reveal two divisions inside. These have mahogany lids with ebonised fore-edges and small turned bone handles. On the outside of the caddy is a small ivory Heraldic shield and the caddy retains its original lock. The banding on the fore edge and the front is similar to the top of the caddy. The underside has the original weave wool case to stop it from scraping surfaces that it rests on.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
