A large and good quality gilt mirror of late Georgian design but most likely dating to the Victorian period. The mirror is of typical classical design with pilasters on the sides topped with Corinthian capitals, these are particularly flamboyant. The top gilt freise is occupied with a bucolic scene of girls dancing while a boy plays the pipes. The mirror is of a nice warm gold colour with mostly original gilding and retains the original bevelled mirror plate. There has been some repair to one part of the cornice and the whole is in a tired but respectable condition often known as country house. C.1860. overall sizes in inches:
