Krementz & Company, based in Newark, New Jersey, were one of the most innovative and productive American jewellery companies, founded in 1866 by George Krementz, and still operating today. One of their biggest original productions were collar studs, and a formalized collar stud forms their maker's mark. This feather brooch, in formalized form, was made in the 1940s in 14ct green and rose gold, set with four oval amethysts. It is most elegantly designed, and is also designed to be worn as a pendant, using the two small hooks at each end. It is 3 1/4 inches: 8.5 cms end to end
