A very good quality Chinese dish, decorated in underglaze blue, and dating from the Kangxi period. The dish has been moulded into panels, each of which is decorated at the rim with a strapwork pattern and with narrow leaves hanging down between. The rim is shaped to follow the moulded pattern of the dish. The centre of the dish is painted with a scene of a woman seated at a table in a garden setting with a plantain emerging from decorative rockwork, and with a pine tree above her head. There is a small vase on the table before her. The back of the dish is also decorated with strapwork following the moulded panels. The foot has a 6-character Chenghua mark within double underglaze blue circles. Diameter 15cm (5.9").
