Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Cocktail Shaker No 819B. Designed by Sigvard Bernadotte in 1939. This is an early version from 1945-1951. Measures 17cm / 6 11/16 inch.In very good condition. Weighs 517 grams / 18.25 oz
Prince Sigvard Bernadotte dreamed of becoming an actor, but his father (Gustav Adolf VI, King of Sweden) and his grandfather would not accept this, which led him to study art history at Upssala University in Sweden. His commitment became designing beautiful and stylish things that were also practical, useful and usable.
At the age of 23, he began designing for Georg Jensen Silversmiths. His style was elegant, distinguished with a preference for geometric shapes, spheres, cylinders and funnels with engraved lines as well as vertical parallel lines, which was not modern Swedish style, which was a departure from the typical Danish Georg Jensen style.
