A superb Georgian mahogany Knife Box inlaid with unusual conch shell. The front has a silver-plated escutcheon.
In the past knife boxes were displayed on a sideboard to reflect the wealth of the owners. Today they would make an elegant accessory in any interior setting.
Although normally referred to as "Knife Box" the lid opens to reveal the cutlery decks, in which there are apertures to fit almost any kind of culinary knives, forks, and spoons.
Comes complete with fully working lock and tasselled keys.
