On offer here is a fine set of George III pierced and engraved sterling silver oval navette-shaped salts, with blue glass liners, hallmarked for William Abdy, London, 1788; described by Jackson's Hallmarks as a good maker of everyday pieces. This set of 4, which each measure 8 x5 cms (3.5 inches in length) and weigh in total about 180g (silver content only), come in lovely, original condition; 1 small split to the base rim of one salt where the join has come slightly apart. A nice, functional set of English Georgian antique silver that can still be used and enjoyed to-day.
