On offer here is a very nice and rare pair of Regency sterling silver fiddle pattern salad servers, one hallmarked for Eley and Fearn, London, 1814; the other for William Chawner II, London, 1818. Before 1815, Chawner had traded in partnership with Eley and Fearn as Eley, Fearn and Chawner. William Chawner has subsequently been described as "the most important firm of silver spoon and fork manufacturers in Victorian London" (Culme 'Directory of Gold and Silversmiths' at page 82). These servers, which measure 29 cms in length and weigh 270g combined, come in very good condition, commensurate with age; no faults. Both servers are crested; one, the demi-lion rampant, used by large numbers of British families; the other the Stag's head, possibly Hargrave. A lovely, functional pair of Georgian tableware.
