On offer here is a fine George II sterling silver caster, of baluster form with pull-off pierced cover and knop finial, hallmarked for Jabez Daniell, London 1751. Measuring 17 cms (7 inches) in height and weighing 169g, this caster presents in lovely condition, commensurate with age; no dents, splits or repairs. The crest, an eagle perched on a ducal coronet, appears to be that of Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Blake-Humfrey of Heggatt Hall, Horstead, Norwich (see Fairbairn's Book of Crests plate 277.11). A stylish, yet functional piece of Georgian antique silver that can still be used and enjoyed to-day.
