This very unusual bracelet consists of finely woven gold rope-work, to which is attached five graduated Russian malachite ball pendants. It is very much in the Etruscan Revival taste originating in Italy from the mid 19th century, and probably is Italian, but curiously enough is stamped with an Arabic control mark on the tongue, probably when it was imported into an Arabic-speaking country sometime in its past.. The high quality of manufacture is definitely European. I have just bought this back from the daughter of the American who bought it from us in 1973, and it is still in its original fitted case. The length of the bracelet is 7 1/2 inches: 19 cms so it will fit most wrists. A most interesting and striking piece of jewellery.
