A very attractive diamond brooch set with approximately 3 carats of good quality diamonds, set in platinum, probably dating from the 1950s. With diamond jewellery the back is as important as the front as a guide to quality of making, and here the stone holes at the back have been carefully filed out and shaped to the the minimum of metal necessary. This work is fiddly and time-consuming so only seen on jewellery of high quality. The brooch is approximately 1 5/8 x 1 1/4 inches: 4 x 3 cms.
