    chinese transitional period fluted dish, shunzhi

    A nice quality Chinese Transitional period dish with fluted rim, decorated in underglaze blue beneath a glaze of a pale bluish-green, and dating from the Shunzhi period. The centre of the dish is attractively decorated with a bird on a rock amongst bamboo and prunus and with the sun above. The reverse of the dish has three simply-drawn leaves around the rim and a 6-character Chenghua mark to the base. The rim has a brown dressing. There are chatter marks to the base. Diameter 14.5 cm (5.7") wide and 15.2cm (6") high.

    Condition
    This dish is in very good condition. There are a few small rim frits and a shallow chip from the inside of the foot rim which may have happened during firing. No cracks or restoration. The dish has warped in the kiln during firing as can be seen in the images.
