burmese gilt polychromed lacquer box

This lacquered box is finely decorated and in excellent condition. It has a base color of orange-red and additional colors of yellow, green and black.
The exterior of this fine betel box is decorated with finely etched flora and a rider on a horse. The rider bears a sword.

The upper and lower section of the cover both with small panels decorated with Burmese script in yellow. Probably, these indicate the name of maker and the location.The box is constructed from thin slithers of woven bamboo that have been lacquered and incised.If there is interest, I will provide other details/information available prior to purchase.Reference:
