This is an amazing clock! Made by the firm of H. Williamson Ltd of Salisbury, Wiltshire (founded in Coventry circa 1844 and later became part of the Grimsham/Elliot clockmaking company), it features in their 1908 catalogue. They made six versions of this clock and the one we are offering was the most expensive. It features nine tubular gongs and a massive hand-finished movement. The quarter striking weight weighs 35 pounds!
The firm and its clocks are well described in Alan and Rita Shenton's book 'Collectable Clocks' and the original advert for this, their flagship clock, has a full page illustration on page 106 of the 1994 edition of their book.

We have been antique dealers since 1974 and specialize in antique clocks, especially longcases, but also bracket, carriage and wall clocks. For many years we sourced clocks for a world-renowned clock specialist and author of books about clocks, who has now retired. We carry out restoration on pre-1860 clocks. We are also the largest dealers in 19th century stereoscopic photography in the world. We are a family business and are fortunate in having three generations working - aged from 22 to 75!
