This is an exquisite antique silver-plated Victorian centrepiece by the renowned silversmiths Elkington & Co, circa 1860 in date.
There is no mistaking the unique quality and design of this gorgeous centrepiece which features an unusual base with seated dragons and a central pedestal supporting a cut and frosted crystal bowl.
Standing on tripartite feet and beautifully engraved with a central dedication to J. W. Gillibrand ESQ.
A lot of intricate detailing has gone into the creation of this beautiful item. This is an extremely well designed and attractive piece that can only grow in value.

R.Elkington& Co. until 1842, when a third partner, Josiah Mason, joined the firm. It operated asElkington, Mason, & Co. until 1861, when the partnership with Mason was terminated. The firm operated independently asElkington& Co. from 1861 until 1963. It was then taken over by British Silverware, Ltd. In 1971 British Silverware, Ltd. became a subsidiary of Delta Metal Co. Ltd.
Over the course of history it became very successful and was one of the prime producers of silver plating.Elkingtonreceived various royal warrants of appointments. One of their most famous pieces is theelectrotypecopy of theJerninghamWine Cooler, at theVictoria & Albert Museum.
