antique silver plated fruit dish by mappin & webb c1900

A wonderful, large sized antique electroplated nickel-silver fruit dish with a wonderfully designed strong dropping handle - a much favoured Victorian addition.

Made by Mappin & Webb in either London or Sheffield and bearing their Prince's Plate, triple deposit trademark that they used from c1890 until early 20th century.With unique double pierced decoration to the outer edge of the dish and a chased ring around the inside bottom that forms a cartouche, which in this case has been uninscribed.
