    The painting is signed bottom left in black so it is hard to make out which is why there is no photo.
     
    We don’t know for certain where it was exhibited but it is quite likely that it was at the Paris Salon.
     
    Alexandre Sege is a French painter born in 1818 and died on 27th October 1885
     
    Painter of landscapes, coastal scenes and woodcutter.
     
    He became a pupil of Leon Cogniet and Camille Flers at the Beaux-Arts in Paris.
     
    He exhibited for the first time at the Paris Salon in 1855 and wond a 2nd class medal in 1873 an a 3rd class at the L’Exposition Universelle.
     
    He became a knight of the Legion d’honneur in 1874
     
    He started as a woodcutter in 1848
     
    His works have been auctioned in both Paris and New York and his paintings receive great attention.
