For sale is a high-quality, hand-crafted antique silver mortar dating from the second half of the 19th century, most likely originating from Vienna within the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy (circa 1860–1890).

This impressive piece is richly decorated with fine hand engravings, including a classical meander band, a central coat of arms with monogram and crown, reflecting the refined craftsmanship of prestigious Central European silverwork.

Based on hallmarks and workmanship, the mortar may be attributed to the workshop of Eduard Gottsleben (Vienna, ca. 1864–1898). This attribution is based on professional assessment and is not officially documented.

The mortar is solidly constructed and fitted with two side handles. It was originally intended for use in pharmacies, households, or as a representative vessel.

Crafted from solid silver (silver fineness not specified), the piece weighs approximately 216 grams and measures about 12 cm in height, 15 cm in diameter, and 18 cm in width including handles.

It remains in good, age-appropriate condition, with original patina and light surface wear, including fine scratches that enhance its authentic antique character. No structural damage is present.

With its substantial weight, detailed engraving, and historical character, this mortar represents a highly collectible and decorative example of 19th-century Viennese silverwork.
