A faithful 19th century oil on board painting after Fra Angelico, housed in a gilt tabernacle frame.
It is a privilege to offer this superb Italian painting of an Angel which closely resembles the original Renaissance piece by Fra Angelico. It is housed in a dramatic gothic gilt tabernacle style frame complete with pointed crest, pierced fretwork, shaped spires and a spiral twist columns.
Condition: The painting is showing signs of age, with areas cracking and peeling away, however the Angel is still clearly visible. I would advise studying the photos carefully.
The Tabernacle frame has survived well, many of these fragile frames suffer from broken spires and heavy damages, this one has its spires intact. Please note there is one spiral column missing, with the upper and lower portion of the frame also broken away.
Overall this is a superb painting, it has been part of my personal collection following my love for gothic architecture. It has always been a talking point and the statement piece of my collection.Size
