Superb quality and impressive 19th Cent bracket clock by Holmes and Son, Holborn Hill, London. This is thought to be Matthew S Holmes and Son who is listed as working there in 1844. It has a 3 train movement chiming the quarters on a carillon of 8 bells and the hours on a coiled steel gong.
The case is veneered in rosewood and has nice quality lacquered brass mounts and inlay. It stands on brass ball feet and has a pineapple finial to the top. To the sides are brass fretted panels lined in red silk.
The 3 train chain fusee movement has a convex painted dial with very fine steel “heart” hands
The case is in excellent condition, as is the movement that has been full serviced.
