A very interesting late 17th century, early 18th century family portrait /genre scene. This painting appears to be an allegory/ commentary on married life circa early 18th C . The flemish symbols for marital fidelity are all present. the dog ,the parrot, the vine ,however the scene appears more complex within the human interactions than a simple family portrait. Possibly an allegorical piece for a now obsure Flemish dramatic play/story.
Presented in a good 19thC giltwood frame.
