A fine 18th century George III wool work sampler. The sampler was sewn by Elizabeth Susanna Hansard on March 30 1792. The centre scene of the sampler is a woven basket of many different flowers all beautifully sewn and below is a basket, a kennel and a dog. The sampler also contains six crowns, two temples and two poems with a lattice border with flowers. The sampler is in good condition for it's age with a couple of minor holes just above the right hand temple. The old frame is Edwardian when the sampler must have been re-mounted.
