the vintage 1976 opal cabochon and ruby ring

This wonderful ring holds three stunning opal cabochons within it's intricate gallery. Claw-set with exquisite detailing to the metal that holds them, the opals have a white base colour with a lively play of colour. When light hits them, the stones reflect a rainbow of colours, notably blue, yellow, pink and green, sharp flashes that grab your attention and captivate the eye. Between the middle and the other opal, two rubies sit as spacers, held by small, wide claws. The rubies are a deep purplish red with fantastic saturation and lustre, complementing the opals perfectly with a romantic pop of deep red. The head is complete with bead-like detailing, delicate and fine, framing the stones in 9ct gold and giving a fabulous personality to the piece.
The shoulders have a host of personality too - lined detailing leads to scrollwork, slimming down from the head and transitioning into a plain, polished yellow gold band. To the interior of the band is a small, neat hallmark by the Assay Office of Birmingham, stamped in 1976 for 9ct gold. A fantastic piece to wear day or night.
