the vintage 1973 opal and garnet five stone ring

This stunning ring, circa the late 20th century and with distinctive vintage charm, holds 5 lively gemstones within its detailed and intricate head. A beautiful deep red oval mixed-cut garnet, rich in colour and lustrous, sits at the heart of this ring. Either side of it, beautiful opal cabochons. The opals have a white base with bright flecks of colour that dance in the light. The play of colour of the stones displays pinks, oranges and blues, shimmering and shining as the cabochons are moved and the light hits the piece when worn.
The cabochon cut itself is done beautifully: the opals have evenly rounded, domed tops that reflect light and show the stones at their best. A further two garnets of the same wonderful deep red colour, well saturated and fantastically cut, sit next to the opals. The stones graduate in size from the centre, drawing the eye to the head and also making for a flattering effect when worn, as all gemstones span the entire width of the finger. The stones are claw-set into a detailed gallery, scrolling with curved patterns, beautiful from whatever angle this ring is viewed.
The stunning stone-set head of this ring is further complemented by heavily detailed, foliate, and intricate shoulders, with a design reminiscent of a butterfly on each side. The scrolling, captivating design leads into a yellow-gold band with a plain, polished finish. Inside the band is the hallmark, indicating this ring was crafted in 9ct gold in 1973, confirmed by the Assay Office of London, their leopard's head mark clear and distinctive next to the date letter 'S'. A fantastic piece to be worn day to day, either alone or paired with other complementary rings.
