the antique victorian 1895 diamond and ruby three stone ring

This sweet ring is circa 1895 and is distinctively Victorian in style. At the centre of the head sits a beautiful, sparkling old-cut diamond in an offset square setting, adding a hint of geometric flair to this ring. The diamond is flanked by two stunning, deep pinkish-red rubies that glow in the light, cushion-shaped and with excellent character. The rubies are warm and fiery, balancing the head of the ring perfectly. The stones sit in a boat or 'navette' shaped head that spans the width of the finger when worn.
The boat-shaped head has an intricate twisted border reminiscent of twisted rope, leading to two squared shoulders with raised detailing. Each shoulder features a small circle, finishing them beautifully. The shoulders lead to a plain yellow gold band, slim but sturdy, making this ring ideal for daily wear.
Inside the band, the hallmark is crisp and easily legible despite the piece's substantial age. This ring is hallmarked by the Assay Office of Chester. This office closed in August 1962 after declining hallmarking volumes made it financially unsustainable after 276 years of being in operation, so this mark adds another layer of history to this Victorian piece. It is hallmarked for 18ct gold in 1895. A fabulous piece for everyday wear.
