the antique early victorian hairwork and pearl navette mourning ring

This stunning mourning ring, circa the late Georgian to early Victorian era, features a navette-shaped head holding some immaculately preserved hair, woven into a criss-crossing pattern and lying under a slightly domed glass panel. The hairwork is surrounded by a border of greyish-cream seed pearls, giving this ring an ethereal look.
The head of this ring slopes into tapered, rosy gold shoulders, which join to a band of a more yellowish metal. There is evidence of a previous shank replacement and lead soldering to this ring, as photographed. This is not visible when worn.
