A gorgeous antique solitaire ring, circa the Art Deco era, featuring a stunning transitional brilliant-cut diamond at its heart. A transitional cut dates from the 1920s to 1940s, sitting between the old European cut and the modern brilliant. The culet is smaller than an old European cut, and the table larger, lending it a more concise and sharp appearance. It has the warmth and character of an antique stone, with a slightly more modern feel, reflecting a time when diamond cutting was moving from cutting by hand to machine. This diamond, whose colour is assessed as between F-G, has a fantastic sparkle and brilliance, complemented more by the light platinum collet and shoulders.
The platinum addition to the piece is typical of the Art Deco era, as are the strong, flared shoulders and pointed claws, reflecting the more angular and geometric trend of the era. Platinum is also used to brighten the appearance of the diamond, so a lighter colour is reflected and refracted within it, giving the diamond an even brighter, lighter appearance. The shoulders slope into a plain yellow gold band with a polished finish, contrasting the lighter metal wonderfully, assessed and electronically tested to be 18ct gold. The gold has a beautiful buttery tone, luxurious and rich to the eye.
A fantastic ring, beautiful and historic at around 100 years old. This ring would make a fabulous engagement ring or gift for a partner, or just a present to yourself as a new sparkling addition to your jewellery box. Wear alone or stacked with other platinum or gold pieces for maximum effect. A classic that will never go out of style.
