A coloured mezzotint engraving of the Duchess of Rutland by the reknowned engraver Samuel Arlent-Edwards 1861-1938. After Joshua Reynolds.
The engraving is signed in pencil at the bottom of the engraving "Engraved and printed in colour at one printing without retouching" and his signature also in pencil.
The label on the back is for JJ Gillespie & Co, 639 Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh. A well known art gallery in America.
Samuel Arlent-Edwards was born in Somerset England and emigrated to America in 1890. The frame is decoratively carved in gilt wood.
