The Adelphi Building Chandelier was designed in 1931 for the Adelphi Hotel on The Strand, London, completed in 1938. The hotel was built on the site of Robert Adams famous Adelphi building. This chandelier was the main light fitting in the entire building which graced the central space of the main foyer. There were four much smaller chandeliers of the same design in each corner of the room. The chandelier was removed in 1999 when the building ceased being a hotel. Weighing 600-700 kilos and comprising nearly 5500 crystals, this chandelier is a unique art deco survival with direct provenance. It is of fine quality, with all drops being hand cut. A pair of elevator doors contemporary to it were purchased by the V & A museum.
