the antique victorian 1870 plaited hair mourning ring

This amazing Victorian ring features a band of fine plaited hair which travels around the entirety of the band. To the head of the ring, there is a plain shield motif and two ornate crosses.
The Victorians wore mourning rings to remember their loved ones when they passed away. They collected pieces of hair and fashioned them into rings or other pieces of jewellery, to commemorate their loved ones' life.
This ring is fully hallmarked by the Assay Office of Birmingham for 9ct gold in 1870. It is in good condition with light marks commensurate with age.
