A pair of Early to Mid 19th century miniature watercolour paintings.These finely painted miniature paintings charm with expressive character. Both paintings are clearly by the same hand and appear to depict Mother & DaughterCondition:
Both portraits display well with the colours still vivid. The Portrait of the mother is in excellent condition with no areas of loss. The frame is showing signs of age with marks and surface cracks.
Under close inspection the portrait of the younger sitter has an area of paint loss around the chin area. The frame is showing signs of age with the brass surround slipping out. The frame can be hung however for regular handling I would recommend replacing this frame.As the sitters are of relation I feel it would be morally wrong to separate them. They have been captured in time and remained together for over 180 years. They shall continue to remain as a pair, I further encourage the buyer to maintain this integrity.Portrait size: 7.2cm x 5.6cm
