Large Victorian Brass-Bound Walnut Writing Slope

A fine and generously-proportioned walnut writing slope from around 1860-80, with beautifully figured veneer, brass-bound and line-inlaid to the front & top, with monogrammed (EDG?) brass plaque, working Bramah lock & two keys, together with a traditional lock & key for an interior compartment, the top opens to reveal a blind- & gilt-tooled skiver in black, two inkwell recesses, pen tray and writing board, both halves of which open to reveal compartments beneath and an intriguing concealed drawer that I haven't yet managed to open...so there's your challenge!Width when Closed 50.5cm x Depth 27.5cm (20" x 10.75")
