Circa 1775 and later, George III mahogany four door breakfront cabinet bookcase. There is an architectural style pediment on the top and on the wings, and a Greek key raised arch. Below this in the centre is a Greek key decoration and 2 large doors with astragals and roundels between the cross sections. In the centre of the bookcase are shelves which are adjustable on slides. The two wings have similar astragal glazing on a smaller scale, again with adjustable shelves inside. There are simple mouldings below each of the doors. On the base there are 4 panelled doors with beadings in the centre, matching veneers, canted corners with small roundels in each corner of the doors. The doors open to reveal a variety of shelves. The gables of the bookcase have flamed mahogany panels on the top and bottom. The panels on the bottom are similar to those on the front, with canted corners with carved roundels. Below the bottom door is a nice ogee moulding and the bookcase stands on a deep enclosed mahogany plinth. Good size, architecturally very pleasing.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
