After an original design by E.W.Godwin, this walnut armchair dates to c.1880. The back is of a Japanese-influenced geometric pattern conceived by Godwin and contrasts with the curvaceous arms. The turned front legs are united to the outswept back legs by a turned H-stretcher. It has been professionally restored and reupholstered in Romo fabric and is in excellent condition.
