A remarkable and, seemingly, quite rare patented mahogany piece from early in the 20thC, though un-marked it's undoubtedly by a top quality maker and in very good condition, satinwood cross-banded & strung throughout, with an over-sailing top that is hinged at the front and opens to reveal a rising, fitted desktop comprising four small drawers, all with reeded swan-neck brass handles, a letter rack and pen trays, together with a textured & gilt-tooled inset leather writing surface and with a brass plate referring to Patents 163 & 5466, the fold-down top secured on brass stays and complete with Bramah lock, though missing its key, all on a box cabinet with square, tapering & out-swept legs with arched brackets to all four sides, this exceptional lady's writing table will impress in the most elegant of homes, whether period-furnished or more contemporary in style...it's a real collector's piece and fully deserves the envious attention it will surely attract.Width Closed 66.5cm x Depth 36.5cm (26.25" x 14.5") & Height 78cm (30.75")Width Open 66.5cm x Depth 66.75cm (26.25" x 26.25") & O/All Height 88.75cm (35")Height of Writing Surface 75.75cm (29.75")This piece dates from around the Edwardian period, so you may expect the mature character & patina of age, together with minor wear & tear commensurate with normal use, including some indented marks to the top of the cabinet but, now professionally & sympathetically restored, it's in very good, clean & sound condition and is ready to use in your home.J-422090/1169
