      This is an antique secretaire bookcase. A Scottish, mahogany cabinet dating to the late Victorian period of the 19th century, circa 1880. 

      • A fine and rare example in very good order
      • Crafted in choice cuts of quality mahogany
      • Good consistent colour and desirable grain interest
      • Working locks and keys throughout
      • Raised on beautifully carved hairy lion paw feet
      • Modest crown moulding with crossbanded frieze
      • Upper cabinet flanked by magnificent helically reeded pillars

      Lower Cabinet:

      • A pair of plain field panel doors close with a brass dust strip
      • Brass keyhole escutcheon with working lock and key
      • Opens to reveal a single full-width shelf within
      • Locking secretaire drawer dressed with loop handles over lion mask back-plates
      • Inset, forest green leather writing surface before seven cubbies
      • Over three stationery drawers dressed with brass pulls

      Upper Cabinet:

      • Six pane glazed doors featuring the original glass
      • Brass dust strip and keyhole escutcheon with working lock and key
      • A pair of removable bookshelves within
