'Wrecked Off The Cornish Coast' Fabulous Large Vintage Seascape Oil Painting

    Brief Description:

This is a marvellous large original 20th Century Vintage Oil on Canvas Seascape Painting depicting the cargo Ship 'Alexander Yeats' that was wrecked off the Cornish coast on a voyage from Savana, USA, to Davenport Dockyard via Holyhead.

The ship ran aground in 1876 at Gurnard's Head, St Ives, Cornwall, and the 19 crew were rescued using breeches Buoy apparatus from the St Ives Brigade.

The magnificent painting portrays the majestic and p0werful scene in great attention to detail, with ripped rigging/sails, men pulling on a rescue rope, and two other vessels taking crewmen to safety.

Indeed, it is a fabulous depiction of a historical event, and the renowned British seascape artist ''William Henry Stockman'' (1935-2021) has done a marvellous job of capturing the moment with great attention to detail.
