Circa 1910, unusual walnut display cabinet by Whytock & Reid of Edinburgh. The dome top has a simple moulding over a carved foliate apron with fruits, vines and flower heads. Beneath this, is a large glazed front and unusually the glazed gables are hinged to access the interior which is covered in velvet and there are two shelves. The fore edge at the front is chamfered. Beneath the door is another moulding and a shaped and curved apron with a simple stylish bracket on the front and sides. The cabinet stands on four tall elegant typical Whytock & Reid/Lorimer stylised legs which finish on lily pad feet.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
