WW1- 1914-1918 Interest, A Historical Interesting Mantel Clock Made From Brass Grenade Shells And A Bullet Shell. Dated: 1914.
The two grenade Shells with the mark: Polte Magdeburg Juni 1909 and Mai 1909 and a crowned 11, the large central grenade shell marked for: Polte Magdeburg Aug 1913.
The bullet shell Marked for: 4-10 = April 1910 /S/DM= Deutsche Munitionsfabrik.
This bullet and shell was used in a Mauser G-98
The movement is made in France and marked for Marti, with a second mark: E.Vignon.
The 8 days cleaned and serviced movement is in working order.
Striking and exceptional are the two hands witch are finely cut and engraved, the minute hand in the shape of a rifle and the hour hand in the shape of a sable with horseshoe, pistol and epaulets.
It is possible that this historical mantel clock has something to do with the cavalry.
Interesting to see is that the numbers of the dial are deep finely engraved.
The clock is overall in beautiful original condition and well made.
