Bollinger has been producing great champagnes with a strong, sophisticated and complex style since the year of 1829. The Champagne house was founded by Paul Renaudin, Hennequin de Villermont and Jacques Bollinger and it still continues to be run by members of the Bollinger family even to today's date. If you hadn't already noticed, Villermont's name wasn't actually used on the labels at all, hence the house name ‘Renaudin Bollinger' and ever since Jacques Bollinger married Charlotte de Villermont, the house has been managed by the Bollinger family. Something that I found interesting was that, even though Paul Renaudin passed without an heir to his name, the label didn't change to just ‘Bollinger' until the 1960's.
Due to them being a producer of sparkling wines from the Champagne region of France, they produce numerous labels of Champagne under the Bollinger name. Funnily enough, in Britain, Bollinger Champagnes are affectionately known as “Bolly”.
After doing some more research, I found a more up-to-date fascinating fact about the champagne Bollinger. This is that it has been featured in 14 Bond movies! Bollinger and Bond is one of the most enduring marketing partnerships in motion picture history and has been shown in nearly every Bond movie since Live And Let Die which is I think quite amazing. I haven't actually drunk it before myself, but after finding out about the history and modern updates about it, I'm quite tempted to try it.
